Frequently Asked Questions

Ticketing
Q

Where do I get tickets?

A

Tickets for weekday entry are available online here, while tickets for weekend/public holiday entry are available online here (please click the globe icon at the top right corner for English interface). Alternatively, you may also purchase tickets on your day of visit at the ticketing booth on the first floor of the museum building.

Q

What does the online ticket purchasing process entail?

A

The process is as follows:

  1. Click on this link for weekday admissions, and this link for weekend/public holiday admissions.
  2. For weekday admission, skip to step 3. For weekend/public holiday admission, select the date and time when you would like to visit, and number of tickets. Please note that the time slot indicates the time during which you may enter the exhibition hall, and not the duration you may stay (e.g. if you have selected to visit during the 11:30–12:30 slot on 24 April, you may enter the hall anytime between 11:30 and 12:30 on 24 April).
  3. Fill in your email address and address (up to village/town/city name).
  4. Check your email inbox for an email confirming your ticket reservation, and follow the link provided.
  5. Input payment details to complete your purchase.
  6. Check your email inbox for a confirmation of purchase.
  7. Follow the link provided in the confirmation email to access your e-ticket (QR code). Tickets for weekday admission will be displayed from 18 April onward. Weekend/public holiday tickets will only be displayed up to 48 hours before your selected visiting time.

Q

What are the payment methods available?

A

You can pay by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, Diners Club).

Q

I don’t have a credit card. Can I pay by other means?

A

After selecting the date and time of your visit, you can select the “Lawson ticket” option available on the website. This will bring your net payment total to zero, and you will receive an e-ticket (QR code) in your email with your visiting slot. You can then pay for the tickets at any Lawson convenience store using the L-code 82198, after which you will be issued a Lawson ticket. Please bring both your Lawson ticket and your e-ticket to the museum.

Alternatively, you may purchase tickets at the museum on the day itself. Please note that we will be implementing entry limits on weekends and public holidays, and as such there will be ticket quotas for each time slot and each day. We thus encourage visitors to purchase tickets beforehand to avoid coming on a day when tickets have been sold out. You may also check ticket availability from the ticket website.

Q

Do I have to book visiting times even if I am eligible for free entry?

A

We highly encourage all visitors planning to visit on weekends and public holidays to book visiting times in advance to avoid coming on a day when tickets have been sold out. After selecting the date and time of your visit, you can select the corresponding option available on the website. This will bring your net payment total to zero, and you will receive an e-ticket (QR code) in your email with your visiting slot. Please bring your e-ticket and the relevant documents proving your eligibility for free entry, which must correspond with the category you have selected on the ticketing website.

Q

Can I get tickets on the day itself instead?

A

Should you find it difficult to purchase tickets via any of the options listed above, you may purchase tickets at the museum on the day itself. Please note, however, that we will be implementing entry limits on weekends and public holidays, and as such there will be ticket quotas for each time slot and each day. We thus encourage visitors to purchase tickets beforehand to avoid coming on a day when tickets have been sold out. You may also check ticket availability from the ticket website.

Q

How many tickets can I purchase at one go?

A

You may purchase up to 9 tickets in one session. However, should there be fewer than 9 tickets available for one particular time slot on weekends and public holidays, you will only be able to purchase the remaining available number of tickets.

Q

How do I access the ticket after purchase?

A

You will receive a confirmation email containing a link to your e-ticket after payment. Please note that the ticket will only be displayed up to 48 hours before your selected visiting time.

Q

Can I change my visiting time after booking, or cancel the purchase?

A

We do not accept ticket cancelations, but you may change your visiting time. To do so, please visit the URL from your confirmation email, select “Change the admission date,” and proceed to select your new visiting date and time. Please note that we only accept online changes up to the end of your original time slot (e.g., if you have selected to visit during the 11:30–12:30 slot on 24 April, you may change your visiting time online up till 12:30 on 24 April).

Please also note that you may not change the ticket category or quantity purchased, or make changes to individual tickets if you have purchased multiple tickets together. You may also not change visiting times to a slot with fewer vacancies than your total number of tickets purchased.

Q

I don’t have a smartphone. How else can I purchase tickets?

A

You may purchase tickets on any other internet-enabled device, and print out the e-ticket (QR code) to present as a physical ticket instead.

Q

Do I have to print out my tickets?

A

Visitors who own mobile devices (smartphones, tablets) may present the e-ticket (QR code) for entry. Visitors who do not own mobile devices capable of displaying the e-ticket (QR code) can print it out to present as a physical ticket instead.

Q

If I purchase multiple tickets at once, can I distribute individual tickets to someone else, especially if they are not visiting together with me?

A

Yes, you may separate e-tickets from one purchase and distribute them to others. Once the e-ticket becomes available (48 hours before your visit), please visit the URL from your confirmation email and select “Share your ticket.” After following the steps, you will be able to either email the shared ticket, or copy the URL for the shared ticket to forward to the intended recipient.

Q

Can I cancel my ticket distribution?

A

Yes, you can visit the original ticket screen and select “Edit your shared tickets” to cancel. The QR codes on the previously shared ticket(s) will no longer be valid for entry into the exhibition, and the corresponding entry quotas will be returned to the original ticket. Please note that the QR code for the original ticket will be regenerated; you should present the updated code for entry.

Q

I didn’t receive an email confirming my ticket reservation. What should I do?

A

Please try the following solutions:

  1. Check your spam folder.
  2. Try unblocking emails from the domain “@nishinippon-event.co.jp,” then go back to the ticketing website and make a new ticket reservation.
  3. Check the email address you have entered. Should you have entered the wrong email address, please go back to the ticketing website and make a new ticket reservation.
  4. Should the solutions above not work, please write to us here.
