Ep. 2 Colours of Asia
It’s time for a colouring project! We’ve designed some fun colouring pages based on what you can find in our Ajippa Interactive Exhibition Gallery.
(1) Traditional Mongolian Patterns
おうち de きゅーはく

Mongolia is a country between China and Russia. Mongolian culture is rich in literature and fine art! This includes Mongolian patterns, which symbolise eternal happiness and strength. They are often found as decorations on furniture and the walls of Mongolian houses. Look at that bright orange on those chairs and table in the photo above! Now you can try designing your own Mongolian pattern with your favourite colours ♡

(2) Beijing Opera Masks
おうち de きゅーはく

These masks are used in traditional Chinese performances. Their designs represent the facial expressions and personalities of the characters onstage. We’ve prepared a simple introduction to these masks! Use them as a guide to create your own character!

(3) Hokusai’s Daily Sketches for Longevity and Exorcism
おうち de きゅーはく

This is a series of sketches featuring a lion dog for every day of the year. They were painted by Katsushika Hokusai, a famous painter and printmaker who created the famous woodblock print, The Great Wave off Kanagawa! These lion dog sketches have lots of personality, and may prove to be a challenging colouring project for adults too!
