Kyuhaku New Year Tour
Look for Lovely Horses!
We modern people know the horse as the gentle giant we encounter at zoos, farms, and perhaps even racecourses. However, the horses of the past held even stronger bonds with humans, sharing the burdens of activities like transport, logistics, farming, rituals, sports, and combat. This legacy of cooperation between human and horse is immortalized in a variety of illustrations and designs, from ancient times through to the more recent past.
This new year marks the third-ever Kyuhaku New Year Tour, along with the Year of the Horse. To celebrate the occasion, we’ve curated a collection of artifacts on all things horse throughout our Cultural Exchange Exhibition Hall – why not pick a favorite steed to accompany you through the year?
