Updated Volunteer Activities

We have resumed a portion of our usual volunteer-supported activities as of 10 June 2022.

Guided tours for the Cultural Exchange Exhibition Hall

Our volunteers will give you a general overview of the Cultural Exchange Exhibition Hall. Visitors who wish to make use of this service should approach the volunteer counter on the fourth floor for assistance.
For group visitors, please make a reservation at least 10 days before your visit. We can accommodate up to 4 groups of 10 people each. Each tour will take approximately 40 minutes.
Please note that the above mentioned guide services are conducted only in Japanese. Visitors who would like multilingual support should make use of the Navilens app for guides in English, Chinese, Korean, and other languages.

Museum Facility and Backyard Tours (Multilingual support available)

Visitors can find out more about the museum’s architecture and facilities in these guided tours. For more information on our Backyard Tours, please visit this page. Volunteer tours in English, Chinese, and Korean are available every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday afternoon, and must be booked in advance. To do so, please get in touch via email with your name, number of attendees, and time of your visit.*
*Please note that tour bookings are subject to scheduling conditions. We are able to respond to email enquiries written in English, Chinese, and Korean, so please do not hesitate to write in.

Volunteer Management, Cultural Exchange Division

Our museum is an institution that aims to engage its local community as much as possible, and to connect people who enjoy going to museums and learning about history and culture. As part of this vision, we have dedicated much effort to integrating our volunteers with our daily operations where possible. They are involved in nearly every aspect of our day-to-day operations, and help enrich our visitors’ experience at the museum.
