Piñata Workshop

Piñatas, decorated paper mache balls filled with candies and sweets, are an important part of traditional Mexican culture. Used in celebrations, they are hung from the ceiling during games. Children take turns hitting the piñata with sticks until it splits, spilling its delicious insides onto the ground. The children then rush to pick up the candies inside as they scatter to the ground, and those who pick up the most candies also give them to the others. The act of breaking the piñata is considered a good omen to drive away evil.
During this workshop, you will be making your very own mini-piñata at Kyushu National Museum!
